Lasercutter 2.0
Several upgrades for a K40 laser cutter:
- Designed, laser-cut & printed a new front panel
- Added an Arduino-powered LCD interface for precise power regulation
- Rotating encoder knob to set power level in 1% increments
- Default power level can be written to EEPROM
- Integrated a water flow sensor: automatically shuts off laser in case of a cooling loop failure
- Source code available on GitHub
- New internal controller: Makerbase MKS SBASE V1.3 32bit
- Running Smoothieware, allowing us to use the awesome LightBurn software
- Can additionally modulate power via PWM, enabling higher-resolution picture engravings
- Line lasers and a top-mounted camera allow easy positioning of work pieces
- Air assist: purges debris from the cutting site, allowing for cleaner and deeper cuts
